Do you personally know any real life superheroes? Blessing- You’re looking at one right here! I get to share with all of you that this was one of Beauden’s primary PICU nurses at Rady Children’s Hospital. After a month or so, she was one of 3 nurses who insisted that one of us (Brian and I) didn’t need to sleep in the hospital at night and that we should both get sleep at The Ronald McDonald House at the same time! It blew our minds! Wait, leave Beauden at night, what? Yes, it’s her job, she said. He’s in good hands, she said. This is one of the ones who felt like family. One of the ones who knows exactly what we went through. I could write or talk on and on and describe details until I’m blue in the face. But truth be told, words could never truly bring real insight to how it really was. But she knows, and many other Rady Children’s nurses and doctors know as well, and for that, we are forever grateful. We get to share her with you now because she is not with Rady Children’s anymore and is now embarking on new adventures as a travel nurse. Do you know there’s rules that our superheroes aren’t supposed to be in contact with families? It’s devastating because they’re the ones who picked up our pieces, loved on our child, guided us with medical terms we didn’t understand, watched us cry, or laugh. They go through something with you that your family and closest friends will never ever understand. She got to visit us this past weekend and to say that it filled our hearts is an understatement.
